CEREC Same-Day Crowns ExplainedDuring traditional dental crown treatment, individuals will need to plan on at least two separate appointments spread out over several weeks. During the first visit, any decay is treated, and the tooth is shaped down for the crown. Impressions are taken and a temporary crown is placed over the tooth. Traditional crowns are fabricated in an off-site laboratory and are ready in a few weeks for permanent placement. With CEREC same-day crowns, this entire process is completed in a single appointment. We start by prepping the tooth for the crown just like we would for traditional treatment. We then use sophisticated CAD software to take digital images of the tooth. This information is then used to mill your custom crown out of a high-quality block of ceramic right in our office. Once the crown is complete, it is bonded into place and you can leave the office with a completed restoration.

What is a CEREC crown?
Hi, this is Dr. Anjum Ansari from Anjum A. Ansari DMD LLC. I want to talk to you today about CEREC crowns.
CEREC crowns are made in the office. They are digitally scanned and milled here so that you walk out with a crown on the same day you walk in with a broken tooth or a crown that’s come off.
What are the advantages of a CEREC crown?
The advantage is that you don’t have to wear a temporary crown, and you have a tooth restored in your mouth that looks and feels exactly like a natural tooth.
We have the ability to scan and produce that crown with a great deal of accuracy and efficiency, all in about 90 minutes.
If you have broken a tooth or had a root canal or an old crown that has been determined to have a cavity around it, we can assess, treat and deliver a full, all-ceramic, tooth-colored crown for you in one visit.
