Dr. Valerie Smith has been practicing periodontics since 2000. Originally from Philadelphia, she earned her BA in Psychology from Temple University. She then relocated to Boston to attend Boston University Goldman School of Dental Medicine earning her DMD degree in 1997. From there she attended the Medical College of Virginia where she earned her Certificate in Periodontics in 2000. She is a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology.
Dr. Smith started her own periodontal practice in Northern Virginia outside Washington DC in 2001. After practicing there for 8 years, she decided to move back to Boston. It was a great move and she now resides in downtown Boston.
Dr. Smith is active in several dental societies, including the American Academy of Periodontology, the American Dental Association, the Massachusetts Dental Society and the Massachusetts Periodontal Society.
Besides having a passion for the field and practice of periodontology, Dr. Smith is also current in the practice of dental implant placement and bone augmentation procedures.
When she is not helping patients, she enjoys travelling and working in her community garden.
Kiosa graduated in 2003 from Bryman Institute with a degree in Dental Assisting. She joined Dr. Ansari’s practice in 2006 as a dental assistant and is now the Office Manager. With over 10 years of experience working in dentistry she has truly come to love every aspect of it. Kiosa loves to increase her knowledge of all things dental related and enjoys utilizing what she has learned to improve the patient experience.
Kiosa was born in Boston and has lived in Georgia. She is passionate about traveling, loves to read, and enjoys spending time with family and friends.
Alexis was born and raised in Western New York. She got her start in the dental field by working 5+ years as a Certified Dental Assistant prior to attending dental hygiene school. In 2008 Alexis graduated from Middlesex Community College as a Registered Dental Hygienist. She continues to pursue her education by taking night classes at Salem State University.
A former chef of 16 years, Alexis enjoys life by eating all over Boston and the surrounding areas. She lives in Somerville with her husband of 13 years and 2 cats!
Roberto was born in Brighton, MA. At the age of 2, he moved to El Salvador (Pulgarcito—the home of the pupusa!) and returned to MA at the age of 13. Roberto, a licensed dental assistant, obtained his certificate from Everest Institute in 2012. His objective in life is professional growth in the dental field.
When not at work he can be found at the East Boston Field playing futbol (soccer), reading Wikipedia, or watching comedy shows/movies. Favorite quote: “Your potential is endless, go do what you were created to do.”
